Admissions

Welcome to Salisbury Manor School. We are a vibrant and inclusive school at the centre of our local community. We have a reputation for leading the way in educational development and a relentless drive for improvement, excellence and equality, delivering a quality education to all the children in our care.

Salisbury Manor Primary is a mainstream co-educational, non-selective School with an agreed admission number of 60 pupils for entry in Reception.

Deciding which school to send your child to is a very important decision. We welcome children from all parts of our local community and are ready and experienced to help your child settle in quickly, whether they join us in Nursery, Reception or in Years 1 – 6 where we do occasionally have places available.

Reception Admissions

Entry into Reception

Applications for places at Salisbury Manor Primary School are dealt with by the Waltham Forest Schools Admissions Service. They handle all questions and issues arising.

The school has one intake each year at the start of the Autumn Term. Reception pupils are normally admitted to school in the September following their 4th birthday. Parents are usually asked to complete preference forms in the Autumn of the year before the child starts school. Places are allocated in the late Spring/early Summer Term with a maximum intake of 30 children in each class. Following this stage, some parents choose to appeal if their choices have not been met.

Once the exact intake is known, the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed begins. In the Summer Term before the September start, parents come to an Open Evening with their children to find out more about how the school works and ask any questions they might still have. This meeting also gives parents the opportunity to meet and talk with the Reception class teacher and other support staff. Reception staff arrange to visit each child within their home, these are carried out in July before the September start.

Children begin Reception in the academic year (September to August) in which they turn 5. Applications for September 2026 entry (for children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022) will open via Waltham Forest Council in early September 2025 and close in January 2026.

All Reception Admissions are managed by Waltham Forest Council on behalf of Salisbury Manor Primary School. If you have any queries, please contact the School Office on admin@salisburymanorprimary.org.uk or phone 020 8527 7433 and they will be happy to help.

If you missed the deadline for Reception, you can put in an application through Waltham Forest Council after the deadline and be added to the waiting list. The waiting list is kept in order of the Admissions Criteria so you may not automatically be at the bottom. As places become available, we will contact you to offer you a place.

Thank you for your interest in Salisbury Manor Primary School.

In Year Admissions
